Our Song

I play our song
when I’m alone.
I hear our song
on my way home.
Track 24 plays
for all my days.
Our song will last
as long as I do.
Life goes fast,
but our song
slows the time.
I am happy
when I hear
our song. Dear,
it won’t be long.
We are strong.
I hear our song
and I think of us.
It brings me back
to a simpler time.
I hear our song
to just rewind –
to just unwind.
I keep our song
in my mind.

Under Construction

During the ride, I stay inside
the painted lines of my mind.
I pick up the speed I need
to discover what I seek.
I travel several miles
to find what makes me smile.
At times, I lose all control
of the car that drives my soul.
I find ways to drive straight
into a storm of uncertain fate.
Throughout my ride, I pass signs
that reminds me of travel times.
I know this road can be rough;
I know that I must be tough.
At times, I open windows
to teach others what I know.
Anyone can tell you that
the journey gives what you lack.
This road of dysfunction
is under construction.
Although its destruction,
I still manage to function.
I have all the time and drive
to keep dying dreams alive.

Stained Glass

The image I painted looks so strange;

I don’t know where I went wrong.

I continue to stare: hoping for change.

My eyes have been hurting for too long.

What am I seeing? My version of you?

I stayed grounded when time flew.

I wanted clear skies when I felt blue.

I painted an image all too true.

The image I saw started to fade;

I still picture it the way it looked.

The canvas I used creates a shade.

I still watch your movie as I’m booked.

I paint an image before I leave.

I stared and stared as time passed.

I paint an image before I leave

as everything blackens all too fast.
