Some days are gray days.
Dark clouds. Heavy rain.
No umbrella can help
us stay dry. Some days,
gray days fade to blue.
Most days, raindrops fall
turning seeds into trees.
Some days, the breeze
reminds us of the cold
world we occupy. We try
to get through the gray
days. On the worst days,
we find ways to follow
the light that pierces
the darkness. We have
seen many gray days.
We know it to be tough
when smooth becomes
rough. We know that
life has its ups, downs,
and roundabouts. Life
is full of green grass,
blue skies, gray days
and we are full of life.
Look past the haze;
do not let gray days
take the sunshine away.

Darker Days
Another Day
What’s another day? It depends
on who you ask. It’s all relative.
Go ahead; ask a relative. Sure,
it’s just 24 hours: 1,440 minutes.
Some may say, it’s another day.
Others say to not think ahead.
Today is a day and tomorrow
is another. That is where it gets
tricky. Who knows if we will
see another day? I guess we
will have to see another day
for any of us to confidently say.
Happy Daze
Things can change quickly.
Life just goes and goes.
One day, I’ll miss this.
Or I won’t, who knows?
One day, I’ll look back
on this happy day.
I’ll pick up the slack.
There’s no time to play.
Our time is slipping.
My heart is ripping.
It’s all part of life.
Days turn into nights.
Please leave on the lights.
I must reach new heights.
It doesn’t’ matter
if dreams are shattered.
I climb all ladders
because it matters.
I’ve been in a maze
for all of my days.
I must find a way
cuz’ I cannot stay.
The Deep End
I’ll never forget how to swim.
I’ll never forget this water I’m in.
Drifting away, I lost sight of the shore.
All night and day, I swim some more.
Powerful waves push me around.
I’ll do anything to not sink down.
As a kid, my feet touched the ground.
As an adult, I hear a different sound.
Bobbing up and down, I drift away.
Impossible to be found, I swim all day.
In a matter of years, this water got deeper.
This open water is a natural peace keeper.
I paddle through wakes for my own sake
as I swim to the deep end to meet my fate.
