Just Wait

Don’t hesitate to wait. Good things
come to those who wait. Divine
powers scour at those who rush.
Those who rush can lose touch
of the things that mean the most.
Just wait. You will see a new start.
You will write many more pages,
poems, letters, and texts about,
and to all the people you knew.
Patience is a virtue, so just wait
for tomorrow to come. Just wait
until this day is done because
the best part has yet to come.

Clouds

We all have clouds that surround – clouds
that follow us home. Clouds are a part
of life. Most times, clouds never leave
us – or our sight. Not all clouds are bad.
Clouds will be clouds just like how
kids will be kids. Let them be. Let them
believe that they can be proud. Clouds
will guide us to where we need to go.
Allow clouds to be something we see
and need. Not all clouds are bad. Most
clouds want to be noticed. Clouds can
come and go, but they will always be
watching us for as long as we know.

Gone

It is gone. Nothing
remains. Nothing is
the same. It is gone.
Gone for good.
What is left of me:
a man lost at sea?
What is gone is free.
Paying attention
is free. Things go
until they are gone.
People are right
until they are not.
People lose sight
and it is wrong.
I will try to stay
before I am gone.

The Distance Between Us

Miles separate
me and you.
You live a ways
away. I live with-
out you everyday.
It feels strange
because thoughts
of you surface
on purpose. It is
like you are here:
closer than before.
Distance between
us means nothing
to us. I trust that
we both watch
the same stars
shooting across-
finding the lost.

After Words

Afterwards, I felt better.
I said what I needed
to say. I needed to speak –
to allow my words to be
real – on the other side of
my skull – from my soul.
I needed to cool off: chill.
I tried to think before
I talked and after words,
I now know if I’ve been
heard. Beforehand, know
that I was hot and cold.
I was both young and old.
After words, I feel better.
I know I have grown up.
Afterwards, understand
my demand and take
my hand. Lead me to
a place that’s bright
and blue and open, too.
Where do we go after
words? Do we stay?
Either way, I will be here
before or afterwards.
