Fragmented

Pieces of the human soul become blended

like potions in a cauldron. The body

houses a soul once whole. Like a puzzle,

pieces of the past stick to new memories.

Love is the glue that holds together

parts of my heart once severed. Days

go on: the present becomes the past. Life

slows down only when we do. It’s true;

the glass we look through is fragmented:

a mosaic of sorts. Lines often blur. Things

don’t seem to fit. There’s a growing list.

You will be okay. Do as you once wished.

The End of Time

We won’t see the end of time.
Our time will end before
the earth stops spinning.
Life goes on. Every right
will be left to be wronged.
Every rhythm lives on
within each timeless song.
The end of time is a sign
that is out of our sight.
The end of time will not
present itself with or without
Mother Earth and her help.
The time we have now
is now the time of the past.
There is no way to pause
as moments fly by fast.
There is no effect without
cause. Life will surround
those up and those down.
The end of time starts
when our souls depart.

Kid’s Corner

What’s up, guys! So, I want to start a part of my website featuring young people’s writing. If you have children or know of children who want their work featured/posted on a frequently viewed website/blog at no cost at all, let me know. You can DM on here or email me at jessemcdaniel123@gmail.com. Please spread the word or share this post. I want to give young writers a chance for their work to be seen by the world and I have a platform to help. I will call it “Kid’s Corner”. I will of course give credit. I cannot wait to see what becomes of this! To view the website and to get a feel for how the work might look, check out jmacthedream.com #WriteOn

No need

No need to be caught up

when you can catch up.

No need to feel angry

when you are happy.

No need to stress out

when nothing is happening.

No need to reveal a frown

when the world’s upside down.

No need to drop heavy tears

when you think of past years.

No need to stare at the clock

when time is taking a walk.

No need to blast the past

when the future comes fast.

No need to be hard on yourself

when you can ask for help.

No need to quit the fight

when the finish is in sight.

Simon Says…

Get this bread. Fill your head.

Love endlessly. Laugh often.

Nail the coffin shut. Strut

your stuff. Call their bluff.

Say anything except “but”.

Find different ways to

fill your cup. Look up to

your friends, not your foes.

Survive the lows and enjoy

the highs. Become surprised.

Live through your own eyes.

Don’t wait until they dry.

It won’t last if you go faster.

Slow down in times of disaster.

No need to talk when you can

listen to the voices you have

been missing. Enjoy this time

as death will, one day, take

both you and me away.
