My finger is on the button.
Let me know when to press
it. One finger can change
everything. A single bomb,
when inside its proximity,
causes utter dysfunction
due to its mass destruction.
Leaving nothing but rubble,
a bomb will cause trouble.
When there is nothing left
but fragments of the past,
a thriving history surely
will not last. After a blast,
the surviving buildings
are just sad shadows cast.
Tell me when. I’ll press it.
When it is pressed, know
that’s when war begins
as peace is put to rest.

Moving On
What hurts about moving on
is knowing that what you
once had is now gone. Now,
thoughts don’t skip a beat,
just like a record stuck on
repeat. Flashes of the past
dash by on the other side
of our eyes. Moving on is
like skipping your favorite
song: it just feels wrong.
Pain becomes strength.
Misery becomes history.
Doubt becomes acceptance.
Moving on is going forward.
Staying back is waiting for
life to attack. Don’t be a
victim to a life you’re given.
Ruins
Many years ago, there were cities, statues, cathedrals, pyramids,
and buildings made of bamboo, sand, clay, plaster, cobblestone,
blood, sweat, and tears. Lives were lost at the cost of these
creations. Not one worker knew the magnitude nor the attitude
that followed their construction. Even after their destruction,
they stood the test of time. Time has passed, yet the history lasts.
The Great Pyramid of Giza, the Hanging Gardens of Babylon,
the Statue of Zeus, the Colossus of Rhodes, the Lighthouse
of Alexandria, the Temple of Artemis, and the Mausoleum
of Halicarnassus tell us a story: a tragic story of life and death
and how they finally met. Now, what we have has been ruined
to no one’s fault. What is left is a gift from those before us.
We must appreciate old ruins before they all turn to dust.
Sacrificial Salvation
Much has been sacrificed
for you to find salvation.
Hope salvaged in savages.
Salvation comes at the end
of work and sacrifice. Ice
melts as the fire stays lit.
The ground that you walk
on is no place to sit. Foot –
prints remind you to look
behind you and remember
how fires start from ember.
Sanity, time, and stability
has been sacrificed just for
us to play nice – to be nice.
The life we choose to live
has been a gift from those
who did nothing but give.
Life can be given, taken,
and mistaken. Sacrifice
what you must and trust
you find your salvation,
so those after us can do
the same to fan the flame.
No Harm No Foul
Why mess with something
that minds its own?
Don’t call someone
who hates the phone.
Receive harm
and stop
before giving it back.
Avoid the top
and stay on track.
See the pain
before it’s shown.
Fan the flame
away from home.
Please Don’t
Harm others;
Focus and breathe.
Inhale and smile:
Feel
LOVE.
Exhale
PAIN.
Enough is Enough.
Don’t curse the rain!
No Harm. No Foul.
Live and Learn.
Appreciate the candle
as it burns.
