Down to Earth

Bring me down to Earth;
I lost my sense of gravity.
I am losing touch rapidly.
Floating and flying, I look
down and hope to land
safely on the ground.
My head is in the clouds,
away from distant crowds.
I look around to see birds
flocking, gliding, and hiding
from an Earth that’s dying.
I have seen enough; I’m
ready to hit the ground.
Bring me down to Earth;
I want to help restore
order and peace. I wish
to land and hold Mother
Nature’s hand. I know
things will get better
down on Earth because
it cannot get worse when
we are down to Earth.

Something Else

I need something else.
I long to love myself.
Something else might
strip away the pain
that remains. I long
for something else.
All in good time. Line
by line, a dark pen
writes the brightest
rhymes. I will be fine.
For now, something
else waits for some-
one else. I see things
come and go. I want
my love to grow into
something you know –
something else, maybe?

Spring Healing

Sunshine will soon shimmer.
The scorching sun will remind
us that we are at the mercy
of Mother Earth as Father Time
takes its course. It’s cold now,
but you just wait. Not before
long, the cold will grow old
and be gone. I see us feeling
more free in the coming weeks.
I can see new beams of love
coming from above. I know
there are good days ahead
with more light to be shed.

The Day After

The day after always feels bad.
Happiness filled the day before,
but today, I feel lost and sad.
Tomorrow is today’s day after;
I’m hoping it won’t be a disaster.
Today is the day after. Yesterday
was great. It was the best to date.
Now, it is the day after. I feel
different. I don’t know where
my energy went. I enjoy the day,
so I can remember happy days.
The day after turned out to be
just another day in the week.

The Bookcase

My bookcase has books about stories –
stories about things – things people wrote.
Each book contains different moments
in time that defines a person’s mind.
Each page is a look into what has taken
place. My bookcase is full of life. I need
these stories to read to be set free.
