Growing Pains (Poetry Book)

Hello! I know it has been about 5ish months since my last poetry book release. I have been writing still, but with school starting back up, I had to put on my teaching pants. I found some time to upload my most recent project called Growing Pains. Really, each chapbook explores a period in my life and closely follows a general, universal theme. Growing up is hard and the pain that follows can sometimes be unbearable. The reality is that we all have to grow up – but it doesn’t always have to be painful. There is hope, control, and clarity that comes with growing older. It can be painful, but beautiful as well. This poetry collection explores the human condition and ever-changing principles of life. Enjoy! Thank you for your interest and enjoy my latest bunch of poems!

These words aren’t mine. Well, the configuration,
the arrangement, and the manifestation of them
are mine to tell, yell, or sell. The rest falls on me.
I own nothing. I just borrow letters and words
that were said, used, or abused in old worlds.
I rent these words – these phrases: these upper
and lower cases. I use these words. They don’t
go to waste. These words help me save face.
They can tell you things that my mouth won’t.
I will never dishonor these words as they are
sacred to me. They provide light: the insight
that does me right. Like eyes that envision
better days, these sentences help me create
early mornings and dark nights running late.
These words aren’t mine, but I treat them
like they are. They carry me through the day
when I don’t have anything to say. Anyway,
I use these words to tell you to stay true
to yourself and to never forget about things
that will help you through all of the pain.

Wasted

I have wasted time: the most precious

gift that is missed. I have wasted breath

during times of stress. I have wasted

food. I have wasted energy on people

I didn’t like. I have wasted some life

thinking twice. I know I have wasted

things, as many of us have. I think

about the things that I have wasted

to ultimately find out that I didn’t waste

anything at all. I don’t see pasts events

as that anymore. All the things I have

gotten to know will help lead me home.

Without a Doubt

Without a doubt,
I love you.
I love the way you are.
Without a doubt,
you help the sun
come out.
I love the way
you are. Pretty
and witty.
I love that.
Without a doubt,
you make me
crazy – just crazy.
You make me
feel amazing.
Without a doubt,
you are my love.
You brighten
my day. I say,
without a doubt,
I love the way
you are. You
should know
my love for you
will always grow.

The River

The River rages on,

A sight we often see.

The River rages on,

Thru people like me.

Waters rush past

With no reason or rhyme.

Waters rush past

Not wasting time.

Birds call out

Gawking at the River’s flow.

Birds call out

Telling all that they know.

The fish swim free

Headed down the fastest stream.

The fish swim free

In all of nature’s dreams.

The river slows down

Then speeds up a bit.

The river slows down

The older we get.
