Just Wait

Don’t hesitate to wait. Good things
come to those who wait. Divine
powers scour at those who rush.
Those who rush can lose touch
of the things that mean the most.
Just wait. You will see a new start.
You will write many more pages,
poems, letters, and texts about,
and to all the people you knew.
Patience is a virtue, so just wait
for tomorrow to come. Just wait
until this day is done because
the best part has yet to come.

Wasted

I have wasted time: the most precious

gift that is missed. I have wasted breath

during times of stress. I have wasted

food. I have wasted energy on people

I didn’t like. I have wasted some life

thinking twice. I know I have wasted

things, as many of us have. I think

about the things that I have wasted

to ultimately find out that I didn’t waste

anything at all. I don’t see pasts events

as that anymore. All the things I have

gotten to know will help lead me home.

Many Breaths

I have taken many breaths,
some deeper than others.
I have closed my eyes
many times to feel alive.
Eyes closed, chest out,
I inhale and exhale pain
that fills the stale air.
Sometimes, I wish I didn’t
care or think so much.
Sometimes, I notice that
my breath takes me away
to a place deep inside.
In my life, I have taken
many breaths and I hope
to take many more.
The air cures my pain.
Now, I count my breaths
because I do not know
how many breaths remain.

City Lights

I become blinded
when I’m surrounded
by too many lights.
I become confused
when I start to lose
my sense of sight.
I envision my life
becoming a light
that carries on
throughout the night.
I have become the light
that harmed my sight.
I can’t help but shine
bright like many others
who light up the night.
