Memory Bank

Deep in my mind, memories get stored.
My brain is a steel trap that opens
and closes. It’s impossible not to
remember a burning fire and how
it came from an ember. My mind
is a bank that will never be blank.
Blank checks and recurring thoughts
do not need to be bought. My mind
does not idle. Boredom often rivals
constant brain activity. It’s on file.
Memories deposited take refuge
in the deep depths where thoughts
of life and death intersect. Accounts
of my life stay full as good moments
fill my soul. Overdraft fees bring me
to my knees and memories do as
they please. My memory bank fills
up like a cup that never spills.

Find different ways to

fill your cup. Look up to

your friends, not your foes.

the highs. Become surprised.

Live through your own eyes.

Don’t wait until they dry.

It won’t last if you go faster.

Slow down in times of disaster.

No need to talk when you can

listen to the voices you have

been missing. Enjoy this time

as death will, one day, take

both you and me away.

Spilled Beans

Don’t cry over spilled beans.
Some secrets don’t make it
to the grave. By all means,
secrets get caught between
a rock and a hard place:
a happy and a sad face.
It’s one thing to give it away.
It’s another to never say.
One day, no one will care
for the beans we spilled.
Don’t cry over spilled beans.
Fear no judgment. Live on.
The spilled beans are gone
as our spirits grow strong.

Day Ones

Shoutout to my day ones! They keep me grounded.
My day ones have been there; they have been
around. They were there to keep me safe – to help
me, even if it was late. My day ones showed me
a light that was kept from my sight. Day in,
day out, life became more important. Life
suddenly was a flame that could now be tamed.
In the midst of chaos, we would not focus on
the loss. We had fun with no attention paid
to the cost. My day ones are real ones. I know
I can count on them. They know I am there
for them, and I always have been. Day one:
our lives began. Then, we noticed the fast
hands of time. Now, we wish we can hit
rewind. Time’s flown, and my friends and I,
well, we are grown. Regardless, my day
ones may have aged, but our love for each-
other has come and has remained the same.

or never; it’s not forever.
Don’t let circumstance

becomes heavier. Now

Something from nothing:
nowhere to somewhere.
Life born out of death.
It is now or never. Now,
never give up and start
to live the dreams you
have at night. Light up
the room now and never
be afraid to sleep in
the bed that you made.
