Time to Shine

It’s time to shine. Dry those eyes.
Move into the night. Dance as
you watch the sun rise. Seize
the day. Enjoy each passing
moment. Breath: it will be okay.
Exist. Live without trying. Smile
after crying. Push yourself to be
the light that fights the dark.
Don’t be a dog that won’t bark.
Don’t be a fish. Be a shark
that tears negativity apart.
When every candle blows out,
and each light turns off, be
the light that guides others.
It’s our time to shine. Time
to write the end of this line.

Fragile: Handle with Care

Like most things in the world,
I am fragile. I don’t want to be
damaged beyond repair. All
life is precious and delicate.
Some of us bend to no end.
Most bend till’ they break.
Some are happy as others
pretend. Handle with care.
I am fragile. I want to last:
no need for broken glass.
I assume others are fragile,
too. Only if the others knew.
Be careful with those you
hang around; they just might
break you down. Enjoy
the challenge of growing old.
Believe in your soul that
you can avoid some damage.
Be fragile: handle with care.
We all got crosses to bear.

Built to Destroy

Some are built to destroy,
to employ their evil onto
others. The good balances
out the bad. The happy
balances out the sad,
yet some are still mad.
Some are built to destroy
what others have built.
Some help fix problems
that others love to create.
The love balances out
the hate. There is death,
decay, and destruction
surrounding us. At any
moment, we can become
a part of the rubble, even
if we weren’t looking for
for the trouble. Bruised,
battered, and broken, I
look to salvage all that
I can before I kick the can.
I look to those built to
destroy and shake my head.
All that can be said is
“Don’t ruin a chance for
others to make their bed.”

Holidaze

Life, as we know it, flies by
Much like Santa’s sleigh.
Winter is coming; snow is
Falling, as we are calling
Friends, family, and others.
Given the choice, we will
Rejoice. We will find a voice.
We must remember to keep
Each other warm during this
Weather. It is the only way
That it will get better. We’ll
Dance and sing holiday songs
To spread needed love and joy.
Days pass and smiles last as
The holidays come fast. Yet,
The date is set, and here we
Are. Some hop in a car
And others stay in place.
Some dress up as Santa Clause
And others light the Menorah.
There will be Christmas parties,
Kwanzaa celebrations, and eight
Days of Hannukah. Plus, many
Other holiday celebrations will
Occur without any hesitation.
No matter the occasion, rise up
And love each other this Winter.
It’s not too late to participate
And to remove our splinters.
Enjoy the holidays and smile;
Who knows? The holiday cheer
Might stay with us all year.

Makes Sense

The consensus is I must mention
the five senses. Our eyes help us see
different human beings. It can be
a sight to behold when people fold.
Smells expose our noses; we know
what is rotten based on the smell.
We can tell when people go bad, too.
We can have a taste of the good life
if we work day and night. We must
touch the hearts of those who are
feeling down. We must feel for all
things under the sun and those
under the gun. Most importantly,
we have to look out and see life
for what it is and is not. Think
about the energy you put out
into the world and ask yourself
if you are truly being yourself.
We must wake up and smell
the roses on a constant basis.
Feel the love – ask for help.
Take the time to see yourself
shine and remember to breathe;
we cannot forget to breathe.
