Blessed

I am blessed to have felt
your light. It burns bright.
Through the pain and worry –
life was never boring. Blessed:
I am blessed to have seen
you and your ultra light beam.
Now, even when the light
starts to fade, I remember
the memories we made.
Your light will shine forever
as I live on with you gone.
Blessed: I am blessed to know
that your light will follow
where ever darkness goes.
Your light will shine just fine
as I try to brighten mine.

Alien-nation

We live in a space station.
Welcome to Alien-nation.
It’s just us for miles and miles.
We have cabinets with files
on each Earthling: something
that helps the Alien-nation.
We’re here and we’re there –
learning new information.
We wait until the night
and prepare beams of light.
Before you know, we float
into the sky and fly away
to be seen another day.
The Alien-nation takes trips
on spaceships. We, the Alien-
nation, live in alienation.
We prefer it this way. We
must give others their space.
Who knows? Someday, Aliens
might face the human race.

Tough Skin

Callaced and rough, tough
skin cuts when touched.
Tough skin worn by men.
Holding axes, shovels, and
tools makes you tough.
Sometimes, it is enough.
Other times, the man hides
behind his tough skin.
It is not manly to be soft.
Have you heard this before?
Women can’t be tough.
It is not womanly to chop
down a tree. Women must
plant seeds. Who says I can’t
be soft? I am tired of being
tough. I think men should be
sensitive, too. All men’s tears
should water the seeds, while
women tear weeds. We must
break free from norms and
set forms that used to be.
We can be tough, rough, soft,
or hard. We can live together
with our skin and talk about
the places we have been.

Are You Down?

If I am down, will you be, too?
If I am sad, will you be, too?
If I am mad, will you be, too?
Are you down to be around?
If I smile, will you frown?
If I scream, will you hear
my sound? If I dream,
will I be free? Are you down
to be down? I am down.
I hope you are down, too.

The Ride

I ride out the day with a big smile

In hopes that you will stay awhile.

I ride to coast through the pain I have,

Pain that would drive others mad.

I wish I could drive life’s rocky road

And relieve myself of this heavy load.

I exist in a body that moves around

a space and time yet to be found.

I was asked to be normal but I refused

Because some things I just can’t lose.

I strive to be well but look at this weather,

What a terrible day to try to get better.
