Built to Destroy

Some are built to destroy,
to employ their evil onto
others. The good balances
out the bad. The happy
balances out the sad,
yet some are still mad.
Some are built to destroy
what others have built.
Some help fix problems
that others love to create.
The love balances out
the hate. There is death,
decay, and destruction
surrounding us. At any
moment, we can become
a part of the rubble, even
if we weren’t looking for
for the trouble. Bruised,
battered, and broken, I
look to salvage all that
I can before I kick the can.
I look to those built to
destroy and shake my head.
All that can be said is
“Don’t ruin a chance for
others to make their bed.”

The Perfect Storm

It’s been raining
for months –
If I said I was dry,
I would have to lie.
The wind has been
blowing prior to me
knowing. People
misplaced. Problems
faced. Dreams chased.
Memories erased.
The perfect storm
is brewing. No shelter
can protect you or me.
We will have to see
what it means
to be caught between
life, nightmares, and
dreams. We are the
eyes of this perfect
storm. Together, we
form chaos and grace
in a world we face.
Rage and elegance:
hell bound and heaven
sent. All we can do
is watch our perfect
storm take shape
and hope we can
enjoy the rain
soaking our brains.

Without the Dark

I cannot see what’s in front of me.
It must be very dark and shady.
I could never live without the dark.
There’s something about not seeing
the evil that lurks on this planet.
Without the dark, there is no light.
There are no beams to be seen.
Darkness lets our demons run free.
We need the dark to see our light
that flickers throughout the night.
I need this darkness so I can see
how my light shines on your face.
I reside in darkness: the unknown.
When I left, I got myself lost
trying to find my way home.
The light I carry helps me out
when the sun misses a few days.
In life, I appreciate the darkness.
There’s no way to explain it.
I need the darkness so I can see
beams of light that create sight.
