You don’t have to be literate
to read the room. You don’t
have to know how to sweep
to use a broom. You don’t
need feet to own shoes.
Rooms are like books on
a shelf. People are like words
on a page. Sometimes, it takes
awhile for some to open up.
Each person has their own
definition of life. Views
and perspectives differ.
Beauty is in the eye of
the beholder. Lessons
are learned and days
grow shorter as we get
older. You don’t need
a folder to read the room.
Open your eyes and look
around. Take it all in
as you read the room.
From womb to the tomb,
leave no room for regret.
Read the room and learn
how fires burn. Read
each person’s face. Learn
just how the world turns.
Whatever you decide to do,
know that it is better to
read the room than to
leave the room. Look.
We can all be open books.

Stuck in Space
No way of getting home,
I float endlessly throughout
the vast galaxy. I see nothing
but stars and planets. Human
life seems to be so far away.
I can’t be the only one inside
this place. There should be
another face, but that’s not
the case. My spacesuit and I
hover over sea and land.
I’ve seen the dark side
of the moon far too soon.
It’s a beautiful view above.
It’s not something that I love,
but it’s not something I hate.
It is me: stuck in space
with many moons to face.
A Closed Book
Each day, an old book closes. The story
is finished; the pen runs dry. Each page
is filled with a bunch of smaller stories:
memories: words that echo through
the skulls of its reader. One day,
the story we are navigating through
will expire as we retire – as the fire
dies – souls will fly into open skies.
Lies will become truths. Rough will
become smooth. Old age will become
youth. We are the characters inside
an open book that will, one day,
be closed – to be open once again
by a different pair of hands.
Until the book closes, look closer
at the plot and decide your ending:
one better than you ever thought.
Keep writing your story. Make it
a good one. We are still writing;
let’s make a book that someone
would want to pick up and read:
a plant grown from a small seed.
Push or Pull
Doors tell us to push or pull;
people do no such thing.
With people, we don’t know
which to do. We pull people
closer or we push them away.
Sadly, it’s always hard to say
whether to push or to pull.
Do we empty our glasses
before they become full?
Before we make the call,
let’s think about it all.
Let me ask: push or pull?
Whichever one you chose,
close the door behind you.
Lost
In this journey, I’ve been searching
For the things, I’ve lost in my past.
I know that one day, I will find
Forgotten memories in my mind.
I’ve been lost for a while. I can see
different paths in front of me.
I’ve lost years of my life being lost;
I found it hard to find the time.
In this journey, I’ve been searching
For the things I’ve thought I lost.
It turns out that I found something
Different – a new level of love –
A new level of life. I found it
While reflecting upon my journey.
After being lost, I found myself
Reliving my life as someone else.
