those eyes

When I look into those eyes,

what I see is no surprise.

Those eyes can’t tell lies.

They tell me a story of love,

pain, power, sunshine, rain.

Words can’t do justice. Looking

at you gives me a chance to

stop and think about my life.

I see all the places you’ve been:

all the tight spots you’re in.

The things you have seen

reveal themselves in real time.

Those eyes know that the sun

still shines. All of your misery

will eventually become history.

Those eyes are windows into

your soul, and your soul glistens,

as my ears learn to listen. Often,

I see those eyes invite mine

to an unspoken conversation.

They talk in ways the mouth can’t.

They tell me I can overcome

any situation. Without hesitation,

those eyes show me a new world:

a world lonely, lovely, and magical.

I get lost in those eyes. They reassure

that unpredictable things will occur.

When I see those eyes, I stop. I stare.

Deep down, I see someone who cares.

Behind the Curtain

Open the curtain
and find
the complexity
of my mind.
Behind the curtain,
there is work
that no one can see.
Behind the curtain,
memories lurk
here within me.
The things you’ll uncover
will leave you in awe.
The places you’ll discover
seem to have no law.
If you look inside,
understand
I don’t own this land.
I live behind a curtain
just waiting to open.
I wish to be certain,
but I’m just hoping.
Behind the curtain,
I feel okay,
but now it’s time
to start this play.

Falling

Falling can hurt if you are not careful

The hard ground welcomes those who have big hearts.

Red empty skies filled with those who are careful

Pieces of souls carried away in carts.

We create a fire that  burns forever

Inside  of us, that only we can feel.

Once too hot, we might not cool down, ever

But it’s the warmth we seek, love we reveal

Be careful as  someone can put fires out

For some the cold needs to for sure occur

There are people like that out and about

I now know that because I have met her

&

Love is a game where some  people will lose

But the world looks better in pairs of twos
