Spit Against the Wind

Don’t fight the feeling. Embrace emotions.

Face the pain. Feel the rain. Become

a warrior of life. Tap into your mental.

Life isn’t a rental. You own it. Show

your true colors. Be yourself. Don’t

pretend to be someone else. Help

yourself to this beautiful life. Buy

yourself flowers. Take April showers.

Rid yourself of the masks you wear.

Don’t care what others think. Sink

or swim. The rise and fall. Feel it

all. Don’t run away or escape. You

can be a hero without a cape. Face

your fears and embrace the tears.

Enjoy the struggle. Stand on the rubble.

The Drop Off

After the drop off

follows the come up.

You may get kicked off

the horse, but get up

before mother nature

takes her course. Hills

and valleys. Cats in

the alley. Shooting dice.

Mix the beans with rice.

Enjoy the climb back

to the top. Ignore the fact

that you dropped off.

Always take your socks

off. When you slip, flip

a switch. Slide down

but never stay down.

It may take a bit for you

to get over it. When you

see a ladder, climb it.

One day, when it’s all

said and done, you’ll be

eye level with the sun.

In the End

Life, as we know it, fades
away. Those we come to
know and love becomes
memories. I once heard:
“The only thing that is
constant is change.”
Each day is not the same.
In the end, death can
cash a check life can’t.
We can’t take back time,
but others can draw
a line from our birth to
our death when the sun
decides to set. In the end,
just pretend you watched
a really cool documentary
that was shot from your
eyes. As the credits roll,
smile, laugh, cry, shout
because, in the end,
that is what life’s about.

Crystal Ball

I looked in the crystal ball.
I saw my birth, rise, fall,
and death. I saw my life
with its darkness and light.
I saw roots. I saw my family
tree growing tall and strong.
I saw me as a child, exploring
unknowns, with an innocence
only children know and show.
I saw my future. I saw better
days. From an ariel view,
I saw the choices I made
and trees throwing shade.
I saw everyday as a game.
I was the star player showing
no fear: grinning ear to ear.
In the crystal ball, I saw
me at the top of a mountain.
I saw that I found a fountain
of youth. It’s the damn truth.
I saw it all in my crystal ball.
I know what I saw, and I saw
what I know. I saw my life
unfold. I saw me grow old.
In the crystal ball, I saw me
write deep into the night.

Holidaze

Life, as we know it, flies by
Much like Santa’s sleigh.
Winter is coming; snow is
Falling, as we are calling
Friends, family, and others.
Given the choice, we will
Rejoice. We will find a voice.
We must remember to keep
Each other warm during this
Weather. It is the only way
That it will get better. We’ll
Dance and sing holiday songs
To spread needed love and joy.
Days pass and smiles last as
The holidays come fast. Yet,
The date is set, and here we
Are. Some hop in a car
And others stay in place.
Some dress up as Santa Clause
And others light the Menorah.
There will be Christmas parties,
Kwanzaa celebrations, and eight
Days of Hannukah. Plus, many
Other holiday celebrations will
Occur without any hesitation.
No matter the occasion, rise up
And love each other this Winter.
It’s not too late to participate
And to remove our splinters.
Enjoy the holidays and smile;
Who knows? The holiday cheer
Might stay with us all year.
