The Stars Above

When I look up, I see stars

race across the night’s sky.

I notice how fast they move.

They come and go. I know

the stars don’t stay long.

Whenever I feel down,

I look up to the sky above

and feel nothing but love.

Time flies like memories,

making moments temporary.

The sky reminds me to be

like every star that I see.

A Regular Rain

Rain is pouring with stars soaring.
Rain comes down from up high
and falls down from the sky.
Rain from above will shower faces
with eternal love. All rain allows
flowers to grow. Rain comes down
as thoughts flow to the places
I know. I know I am glad
to say that the rain came.

Cruise Control

I shift gears. I run past
mirrors fast. I just go.
Ya know? I will not lie;
I can fly. I can jump high
Sometimes I don’t ask
why. I must be on autopilot.
I am not driving the car
that got me far. The car
must be driven and not left
on cruise-control. Just know
my car will carry my soul
after the tank becomes full.

The Rise and Fall

I get up every morning
and I rise to my feet.
I get ready for the day –
just as people do.
I rise for another time.
I don’t see the signs
of any future decline.
I get dressed. I walk
towards the front door.
I swing the door open
and I take a big step,
but I trip before I leave.
I start to fall to the floor.
Just like that, my mood
is under attack. I rise
again, not before I tie
my shoes. The fall hurt,
but I learned to rise.
I look to the sky above
and I rise to my feet.
I like standing up to
the faces of defeat.

Look Up

Do not stare at your feet
when there is a sky above.
Do not stare and weep
when there is endless love.
Look up and see the sky.
Look at birds dance and sing.
Look up and try to fly.
You deserve everything.
There is a life ahead.
You must get off the ground.
Fly away from all the dread
and away from all the sound.
Look up and chase the sky
before all your dreams die.
Look up and wave goodbye
to me before you fly.
