Past Tense

What is done is done. We wave hello to the sun.

We never forgot about the moon. We need both

the fork and the spoon. The day may be gone,

and time may be flying, but I am still trying.

In the sky, I see birds bobbing and weaving.

I can’t take my eye off what is now leaving.

I loved, cried, and smiled in the past tense.

I live in the present where it just makes sense.

The memories stay as the past fades away.

The future is bright: I’ll be there one day.

Baby Gray

Since the day you were born,

you’ve shined brighter than

a shooting star blasting across

the pitch-black sky. You glisten

in the reflection of my eye.

Your wide smile cheers me up.

Your youthful eyes tell me that

the sun will surely rise again.

At just 8 months old, you’ve

given me the ability to see

that life has many meanings.

You have taught me to love

unconditionally. You fill me

with joy and energy. I can be

me with you. I am so proud

to be your dad, baby Gray.

You’ve given me the light

that I cherish night and day.

Look Alive

Don’t be a dead man walking.
No need to be a sitting duck.
Don’t be down on your luck.
No need to be feeling bad
when you miss all the things
you wish you could have back.
Don’t stare at your reflection
for too long. Change it up.
No need to replay the song.
Move on. Wake up and look
alive. Buy the ticket and enjoy
the ride. Know when to show
and when to hide. Look alive.
No need to slip into the night
when we can just take flight.

The Chosen One

You are the chosen one.
You are the burning sun
that lights up the sky.
You are the birds singing:
the sunflowers springing.
You are the love the world
desperately needs. You are,
by far, the most important
one to me and everyone
else. You know how to help
others that don’t know how
to help themselves. You are
beautiful like a naked smile.
You are sweet like honey
and crisp like new money.
You are the chosen one.
It was pretty easy to choose
you because you turn grey
skies blue. I knew to choose
you, and luckily for me,
you knew to choose me, too.

Just Chillin’ (Poetry Book)

Enjoy my newest poetry book, Just Chillin’. It has been a cold one lately, and the mood has been rather frosty. The weather has been cruel and so has life, at times. What matters most is staying warm and helping other through difficult times! These poems contain the heat you need for this cold winter! Love you all and enjoy this cold edition of Just Chillin’!
