Dead Ends

The rubber met the road. The pedal hit the metal.
Raindrops filled the kettle. The explorer did not settle.
The peasant earns Shekels. Many faces wear frowns.
Some attendees heckled. The rubber met the road.
The host ended the show. Robots speak morse code.
Frogs claim to be toads. The snakes in the grass
slither fast as the blades cut and the blinds shut.
In life, follow your sight and do what is right.
Trust your gut. Pretend that you did not just hit
a dead end. Go spend time before time spends
you. It is time to lose the shoes and move out
of the way of the kicking boot. I mean, shoot.
Time to turn around. We are not quite ready
to sing the blues, read the news, or face
the fact that we must pay off our debt.
Just turn around and you will be free: set.

Listen to Yourself

What are you saying
when you speak to yourself?
Do you put yourself down?
Do you say things that help?
Listen to yourself. Hear
yourself talk. Be nice;
think twice before saying
something you wouldn’t
say to someone else.
Build yourself up. Go to
your happy place; embrace
the smile on your face.
Train your brain to handle
pain. Listen to yourself.
Are you talking sense?
Can you control the voice
or is it not your choice?
Listen: you might hear
someone being sincere.

Unspoken Words

Those who don’t speak
seek words that work.
Unspoken words dance
inside a musical mind
when they get the chance.
Unspoken words are not
heard but still can hurt.
Unspoken words are
thoughts that are caught
in a neurological web.
Unspoken words don’t
occur. They conquer
our ability to express.
They remain suppressed.
Let unspoken words
become spoken thoughts.
Free the words you keep
buried. Speak unspoken
words, so they are heard.
Speak words and don’t
just hear them: listen.
Listen and allow words
to be spoken – thoughts
to be expressed. Release
the words from within
and don’t forget to listen.

In my Dreams

I seem to believe what I see
in my dreams. I can recall
vivid visions of my past.
I remember you visiting me
in my dreams. I fall asleep
with you on my mind as I find
time to unwind. Deep in sleep,
my brain goes unchained.
I take a walk without moving
and I talk without speaking.
In my dreams, my broken
memories come visit me.
Old thoughts and new ideas
dance inside my head, behind
my eyelids. In my dreams,
everything feels all too real.
As I sleep, the show starts,
in my dreams, where I watch.
