It’s a suburban legend.
Who knows what the
housewife did? Life
must be wild in
the suburbs – away
from others. I heard
the suburbs are
different from the city.
Legend has it, the suburbs
have no legends at all.
Life seems cool and calm
on the outside. Outside
of the city, there are not
legends. There are only
truths – no imagination.
In the suburbs, I heard
no one leaves, but that
is just an urban legend.
Life is life and suburbs
are suburbs. It’s absurd
there are not suburban
legends that I’ve heard.

After Pain
Pain leaves a stain
we can’t get out.
What happens after
pain? Are we the same?
Some pain remains
like insatiable flames.
What can we expect
after pain sustains?
The pain will pass,
but not too fast.
The pain won’t last
when we rip away
its mask. After pain,
we can win the game
and tame the flame.
Pain leaves as soon
as we do. Our pain
ends after it begins.
We are the Same
We act different, appear different,
talk different, yet, we are the same.
We breathe and share the same air.
We are similar. We are familiar
with differences. Different things
separate different people. A wall
is broken down as people agree.
We see things a different way.
We fear what others might say.
We often forget; we are the same.
We are humans living and dying.
We came from the same place.
We will go to the same place.
The difference between me
and you is that you are you
and I am me. We are both here
conquering our deepest fear
on the same spinning sphere.
Still
Time is something that moves humans.
Time can’t sit still. People can’t either.
Time can create panic when people
don’t understand it. People can’t wait.
They rush to find the time that can’t
be found. Some people wait around.
Time passes through at the same rate
people do. To be frank, time and time
again, I will think of a time way back
when. Some will move. Some will stay
still to fill space. Some walk. Some run
to win life’s race. For now, I take it slow.
I’ll take my time to cross the finish line.
Stay Inside
It is hard to think
outside the box
when I must stay
inside all day.
I have been
staying still, but
my mind has
been racing. I
have to stay
inside until the air
clears on both sides.
I have nothing
but time to find
out more about
my life. I cannot
drive outside, nor
can I see those
who I love dearly.
On the inside,
I can drive myself
crazy or I can lose
my mind. For now,
I will stay inside
my home while
every memory
will be free to roam.
