moving into the unknown.
No need to speed. Let it be.
Slow and steady; I’m always
ready. Life can be heavy,
and when it rains, it pours.
I keep going steady. I move
with the current. Slowly,
I work my way towards
a new day. I keep going,
slow and steady – I think
to myself. I wonder if all
will be well. Who knows?
Really, only time will tell.
Class of 21’ – what a year.
Life has been tough.
You did your very best
To smooth what’s rough.
Class of 21’ has soul –
The uncanny ability
To make diamonds
Out of last year’s coal.
This year looked different –
Time went – you stayed home –
Battled boredom – faced challenges –
Missed games, dances, experiences.
Yet, you have risen above, making
the most of this ghost-of-a-year.
You have been strong and brave.
You are weathering life’s storm
Before it takes form. Class of 21’:
From friends to family – it
Has begun. We know it to be
Hard, but fun: a new web spun –
A transition from moon to sun.
You have fought like Vikings,
Gearing up for what’s next.
Class of 21’, you may be done,
But know, the love never left
The place where memories
Are kept and goals are set.
Through struggle, pain, and joy,
You have moved forward:
chasing glory, gold, or greatness.
The world is waiting for you
To make a difference – to be
Whatever it is that makes
You shine and feel alright
Remember this year,
Have no fear and live on.
Just know you did it. You made
It, Class of 21’. We’re not done;
Our story has just begun.

Old footage. New smiles.
Old cars. More miles.
New styles. Old fashion.
New years. Old days.
Old views. New plays.
The VHS player
is a time machine,
and the tapes help
me escape. Years ago,
I wanted to grow
– get old. I was young.
Now, I got what
I wanted. I am older.
I put in an old tape.
I rewind it. I remind
myself of who I was
as I press play and
get lost in an old day.
Reap what you sow. Live life
and be the light. Tonight,
sow a new sweater. The one
you are wearing now
is ugly and doesn’t fit you.
Let’s sow a new sweater.
This new one will represent
a new start to a happy life.
Each thread and fiber
in your new sweater
will make you feel better.
Reap what you sow; maybe,
it’ll be the beauty that shows.
