5 years

Another day. Another milestone.

5 years seems like forever

ago. At that time, there was no way

to know how life would play out.

Unforseen events. Life changes.

People come and go; the same

rivers flow. Dormant volcanos

blow – destined to erupt.

The things we’ve lost and gained:

joy, happiness, faith, trust, hurt

confidence, bliss, and pain.

So many things are different.

Uncertainty for all eternity.

All I know is that I can look back

and see a trail of trial and error.

I didn’t know I would be here

after 5 years, but I’m glad I am.

Where will I be in another 5 years?

What will happen during that time?

Who knows? Only time will tell,

but there’s no need to listen.

There’s no need to dwell on

the past or try to predict the future.

Enjoy the days before they’re gone.
