The Shining (1980)
Directed by Stanley Kubrick

All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.
I’ll be the judge of that. I don’t know which
one I like better: the axe or the bat. It is
a big responsibility to be the caretaker
of such a historic hotel. Not a drop of booze
in sight. I won’t go crazy. I’ll be fine. Right?
It’s just me, Danny, Wendy, and sometimes
Tony. I can’t shake the feeling that someone
else is here. Danny seems off.  I feel lost.
Wendy is scared. Winter is in full force.
I can’t help thinking we are stuck. But,
I don’t see it as bad luck. As the days go by,
I feel like they are getting in the way of me
doing my job. I owe my life to the Overlook
hotel. It makes me feel alive, but they don’t
understand. I have a plan. Have I gone mad?
What does Danny see that I can’t? What
is Tony telling Danny? What is this place
doing to us? What is this place doing to me?
Something tells me something bad is going
to happen. Redrum? Redrum? Let’s have
some fun. Me, you, and my axe. We will
see who has the last laugh. I must take care
of them. Now, there’s no turning back.
