The Chosen One

You are the chosen one.
You are the burning sun
that lights up the sky.
You are the birds singing:
the sunflowers springing.
You are the love the world
desperately needs. You are,
by far, the most important
one to me and everyone
else. You know how to help
others that don’t know how
to help themselves. You are
beautiful like a naked smile.
You are sweet like honey
and crisp like new money.
You are the chosen one.
It was pretty easy to choose
you because you turn grey
skies blue. I knew to choose
you, and luckily for me,
you knew to choose me, too.

Frozen Roses

It can be a cold world.
I don’t have to tell you
that. We know this.
Events, people, places
can stop us in our tracks.
It can get chilly. Life can
freeze almost all things:
just not time. Not this
time. We must carry
the warmth needed
to keep us heated.
We must survive this
snowstorm that keeps
most frozen. Pedals
from your frozen roses
remind me to find truth –
to remain warm: alive.
Your frozen roses remind
me to search and find
love I have left behind.

Clouds

We all have clouds that surround – clouds
that follow us home. Clouds are a part
of life. Most times, clouds never leave
us – or our sight. Not all clouds are bad.
Clouds will be clouds just like how
kids will be kids. Let them be. Let them
believe that they can be proud. Clouds
will guide us to where we need to go.
Allow clouds to be something we see
and need. Not all clouds are bad. Most
clouds want to be noticed. Clouds can
come and go, but they will always be
watching us for as long as we know.

LOW EYES, HIGH HOPES

Fire fills the city,

smoke fills the sky.

Shattered windows and hopes

Cover the ground

built on lies.

Eyes fixated on rubble

As feet stomp through

an unknown struggle.

Marching together

But in separate bubbles.

Looking for peace

But causing trouble.

Raising flags and fists

Reading different signs

Strong in a belief that fits

a different era and time.

Embracing the changes

Expanding the lines of wisdom.

Breaking out of pre made cages

Devoloped by a one man’s kingdom.

High hopes fill the air

surrounding lowered eyes,

For love is created to share

When the world loses size.
