There is nothing more elusive
than time. Another lap around
the track is another year around
the sun. Whether we drive, walk,
or run, where we finish is where
we had begun. We are stuck in
a loop – a revolving door, turning
another corner in this circle of life.
The path isn’t straight or narrow,
and there’s no way to turn around.
We can’t stop; otherwise, we will
be dead in the tracks. Only time
will tell, but will we listen?
Can we find the time if it goes
missing? We might go before
our time, but time goes on long
after we’re gone. It doesn’t matter
our pace or if we finish the race
first or last because, in the end,
we end up at the same place.
We reach the finish line the day
we stop moving. Taking time,
finding time, running out of time,
wasting time: it’s all the same.
How we spend our time is up
to us. The clock is the last thing
we should trust. It is just a matter
of time. What we take is what
we get. Sometimes, we are given
an inch, and we take a mile.
Other times, finishing a lap is
exhausting and may take a while.
When we are young, we are
ahead of our time, but as we get
older, it starts to catch up to us.
There will be a day when time
passes us by, but that shouldn’t
slow us down. It’s important to
keep our eyes on the road,
but every now and again,
We need to look out the window.
Before reaching the finish line,
We must take the time to look
around because once we complete
this lap, there’s no getting it back.
