Many things to do. Not much
time to do them. Which way
will I be pulled today? I wish
I could do it all. So many people
to talk to. So many stories to tell.
So many places to go. Very little
time to burn. They say that
an idle mind is the devil’s
playground. At times, he comes
around, but I never let him stay.
When I am still and start to fade,
emotions unapologetically eat
away at me. There is nowhere
for them to go. These feelings
follow me around; they know
all of my hiding spots. It’s a cat
and mouse game I can’t win.
I can’t pretend that my problems
don’t exist. Whenever I reminisce,
present time is bound to vanish.
I must look for the things
I can’t see: as invisible as the air
I breathe. There is no point in
asking others for help when it’s
my responsibility to find myself.
I must search alone: leave
my comfort zone: the only place
I’ve ever known. When I reach
the end of the road, I hope to see
see you there: patiently waiting
for me. There’s no reason to fear
the unknown. Who knows?
The grass might be greener
on the other side. I believe
in a better tomorrow. I didn’t do
much today, but when I dream
tonight, I hope to see you –
the only thing I wish to do.
