Oh, how each day flies by.
No matter how hard I try,
I can’t change how fast
moments become memories,
yet I will never forget how
you saved me from staying
the same. The day you came
into my life was the day
I stopped the endless search
for the love I thought I lost
because I found it nestled,
right in front of me: in
your mother’s loving arms.
When you opened your eyes
for the first time, on the day
you were born, it all changed;
I saw a new world I didn’t know
existed. If I blinked, I would
have missed it. In an instance,
I felt a spark reignite a fire
that was burning out inside
of a withering heart. You
will never understand how
fast you filled the hole missing
from my soul. Without you
knowing it, you rescued me
from myself. When you get
old enough, I hope you realize
how much light you brought
into your mom’s and dad’s life.
We will travel on this rocky
road together; we will always
love you: now and forever.
