The world looks
a little different
through my eyes.
I have seen the highs
and the lows. I have
seen some rise and fall.
I have seen those
who come from
broken homes rebuild
what was once destroyed.
I have seen the walls
that people put up
crumble to the ground.
I have seen a blue sky
quickly turn gray,
but I have never seen
rain clouds stay;
they always evaporate.
I have seen the rain
wash away the pain.
I have seen people
hit rock bottom
and climb out.
I have seen
those left for dead
come back to life
because of encouraging
words others have said.
I have seen the wind blow
out the strongest flames.
I have seen people change
when others stay the same.
I have seen a life unique
to me. I have seen sand
in an hour glass slip
between the cracks.
I have seen those left
behind and those who
left before their time.
How would you feel
if you were to look
through my eyes?
I am not sure I can
answer that question.
How would I feel looking
through yours? I can’t
change the way you view
the world, but why
would I? We may not
see eye to eye, and that
is okay. Maybe, it should
be that way. I have not
seen it all nor should I,
but one day, I hope
I will reach new heights,
and see a new point of view,
and I hope you do too.
