Time is something we can’t

get back. Time is a thief that

steals the one thing money

can’t buy. Time is the air

we breathe; it is a leaf

that fell off of an ancient tree.

We should be thankful

that time has been kind

enough to bless us with

another day. Time is something

that doesn’t need wings to fly.

Every now and again, I slow

down, look around, and ask:

“Where did the time go?”

I wish I knew. Time is a call

we wish we answered.

We try to hold onto the days

that were never meant to stay.

It is foolish to think it’s possible

to win a race against something

that has a name, but doesn’t

have a face. Those yet to be

born will replace us when we

finish our race. In this life,

those before us said that

life went fast, but we didn’t

believe it until we ran

the distance. We thought

we could keep a good pace,

but all we did was run in place.

We don’t realize the finish line

line is closer than we think.

Often, we travel many miles

in just a few blinks. Some of us

take dozens of years, a few

months, or a couple of days

Those who passed on wished

they knew their race would

end without maturing;

they wished that they could

have seen it coming, so could have

said: “I love you” one last time.

Once we reach the other side,

Father time will be waiting at

the gate to welcome us with

open arms and a warm smile.

He will softly say: “those you

loved will join us. Just not today.

It can be hard to accept that

we will never win the race

against the clock. We don’t

need to see an hour glass to

know that every night, grains

of sand fall like snowflakes that

melt away the following day.
