Glow in the Dark

Darkness surrounds the brightest souls.

It’s impossible to see without the light

that shines within. Even when my eyes

are shut, I can still see the light you have

passed on. Colorful images are painted on

the inside of my eyelids. You shine. You glow

in the dark. You light up the night. In a sea

of darkness, you provide comfort and bliss.

Like a flaming candle, you can handle

what’s not shown – the true unknown.

Like a blazing sun, you are not done

until you shed light and provide warmth.

In a world of pain and sorrow, you show

others that happiness is obtainable.

Your light is relatable. You glow in the dark

when others can’t see. You’re a beacon

of light guiding those who are seeking.

Melatonin Dreamin’

Crystal clear. Colors you can hear.

Images so sincere. All things you fear

seem so near. Dreams come alive

during the night. Out of sight. Inside

the mind. One of a kind. Hiding

behind a stop sign. Gliding on

a cloud and floating on a cleft

note. Missing the boat. Riding

the bus kicking up dust. Eyes glow

in the shadows. Horns grow. Ghosts

doing the most. Angels visit. Back

alleys lit. Just another misfit. Lucid.

Dancing with the devil. Picking

up a shovel. Digging up the past.

First things first. Good dreams don’t

last. Nightmares and goosebumps.

Fast asleep while the reaper creeps.

This melatonin is hitting in a dream

I’m sitting. Waiting for the alarm

to wake me up. For the sun to come

up. For now, I’m melatonin dreamin’.

Hugging angels and fighting demons.
